CANVAS Autonomous Driving in Winter

Hayder Radha
Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering

CANVAS Lab

Michigan State University College of Engineering research integrating cameras, radar and LiDAR to develop advanced algorithms for "superhuman" sensing that will allow autonomous vehicles to navigate in any environment, including Michigan's winter road conditions.

Computer Vision

Xiaoming Liu
Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering

MSU Computer Vision Lab

Michigan State University College of Engineering research using computer vision to detect pedestrians in real time. Pedestrian detection is a critical problem in computer vision with significant impact on safety in urban autonomous driving. MSU researchers are exploring how semantic segmentation can be used to boost pedestrian detection accuracy while having little to no impact on network efficiency.
