Current Research

Dr. Sarah J. Swierenga provides scientific and research oversight, particularly expertise in user-centered design and evaluation, to enhance human-technology interfaces for usability, accessibility, and user satisfaction. She is responsible for program management, project management, supervising personnel, budget development, work plans, progress reporting, financial reporting, and research dissemination. Swierenga leads the Michigan Workforce Background Check grant with the State of Michigan and a grant with ArtCenter College of Design to provide consulting on their usability and accessibility research projects. She is a recognized expert in usability and accessible website design, and presents widely on health communication information technology, usability evaluation with people with disabilities, and accessible electronic voting systems. Swierenga is a Certified Professional Ergonomist (C.P.E.).
